Media Statement – NPF Mourns U.S. Border Patrol Agent Killed in Vermont

Ottawa ON — The following is a statement from National Police Federation President and C.E.O., Brian Sauvé, in response to the killing of a U.S., Border Patrol Agent in Vermont on January 20, 2025, while performing their duties near the Canada-U.S. border.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic on-duty killing of a U.S. Border Patrol Officer earlier this week.
On behalf of the entire National Police Federation and our ~20,000 Members, we express our deepest condolences and solidarity with the agent’s family, loved ones, colleagues, and the broader law enforcement community during this difficult time.
Our Members are proud to work closely with law enforcement officers across the border and share their grief at this loss. We send our thoughts and support to the National Border Patrol Council and our American counterparts who are working to uncover the details of the incident. We thank you for your bravery, sacrifice, and commitment to upholding public safety in our shared border communities.”
