JACK FERA Jack (John Ross Eugene) Fera passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Credit Valley Hospital. Jack was born in South Porcupine, Ontario on November 3, 1934. At the tender age of 17 he joined the RCMP and began an exciting career which took him to exotic locals across Canada including Ottawa, Russell and Brandon, Manitoba and then to Clear Lake where he would meet his wife of 54 years, Lou Fera (Mary Louise Batho). In 1967, with a newborn baby, they headed off to Stuttgart and Cologne, Germany for 4 years. His European adventures would take him into Northern Africa, various parts of Europe and the Middle East. Jack served with the RCMP for 30 years attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant before joining CSIS in 1984. Jack will most notably be remembered for his generosity of spirit; never the one to let a “knight of the road” go unnoticed or a friend in need unsupported. His parlance for storytelling and writing would go hand in hand with his ability to never let a guest’s wine glass reach empty. He forged many close friendships that have stood the test of time. By his side on Sunday was his loving wife Lou and daughters Lori Link and Lisa Fera. He is also survived by his grandchildren Erin and Jake Link and sister Margery Fulton (Fera). Per Jack’s wishes there will be no viewing or funeral service. Instead, the family will hold a celebration of life sometime in the Fall serving up Jack’s well renowned spaghetti sauce to be savoured with his favourite plonk. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you honour Jack by doing an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone less fortunate. It was his way and how he should best be remembered.
