For “O” Division members Ed Chetner was a legend at 225 Jarvis Street, often remembered for his humour, his cigar and his candelstein operations. It is with sadness that we have learned of his passing and Toronto Division offers it’s sincerest condolences to Ed’s family.

CHETNER, Edward (Ed) Ezra August 14, 1932 – Calgary, AB March 8, 2017 – Calgary, AB Ed Chetner passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the age of 84 years. Ed is survived by his son, Dan Chetner; daughter-in- law, Diane Maltais; son-in-law, Dan Szoo; grandchildren, Adam Szoo of Montreal, Jordan Szoo of Calgary, Danielle Chetner of Vancouver, Jean-Luc Chetner and Beau Chetner of Penticton, as well as Rudy Berger and numerous beloved cousins. Ed was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mavis and daughter, Beth; siblings, Harry, Janet and Joe. Ed began an illustrious career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1951. He rose through the ranks to eventually become a Staff Sergeant prior to his retirement. He served in numerous locations all over the country and was proud to have served at the Canadian Embassy in Tel Aviv. Following his retirement from the RCMP in 1976, he continued his public service as an Investigator for the provincial Ombudsman’s office. Funeral Services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, (North East Corner of Highway 22X and 37th Street S.W.) on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Erlton Cemetery.
