DIETZ, Douglas William (Bill) Reg. #22342 – Sadly the last chapter in Bill’s Book of Life has come to an end. Bill passed away on July 7, 2017 at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in his 77th year after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Jan (Oliver) of almost 50 years, his nephew Kirk and many cousins. Brother-in-law to Mel and Carol Oliver. Predeceased by his parents Edwin and Irene and brother Harold and his wife Doris.
Bill joined the RCMP in 1962,“G Troop”, and served for 25 years in Prince George, BC, Toronto, Hamilton, Niagara and Windsor detachments where he retired in 1995 as Sergeant.
During his retirement years Bill and Jan enjoyed many wonderful trips which saw them visit all of North America (except the Yukon & Alaska), Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Scandinavia. Bill looked forward to the weekly golf games with the boys and he also spent many hours on the backyard swing watching the endless river go by.
A special thank you to Dr. Gunning and Becky for all the kindness, help, guidance and compassion given over the last difficult months, to the great gals at CCAC who came every day to our home to look after Bill and who became our new friends and to everyone at the Dr. Bob Kemp hospice for making bill’s last days comfortable and peaceful.
Bill’s wishes were cremation and no service. Come celebrate Bill’s life and share memories at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #154, Caledonia (29 Caithness St. E.) on July 30, 2017, from 1 – 4 PM.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, 277 Stone Church Rd. E., Hamilton, ON. L9B 1B1 would be appreciated.
We won’t say goodbye Will.
Happy trails till we meet again
